Purple mood: a test drive of the updated SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TSI

The following year SEAT will present a completely new, fifth-generation of the popular bank in Europe, the B-Class Ibiza. But until that happens, the Spanish engineers, designers and marketers with their supervisors from the head office VW all the forces trying to maintain interest in the current version of the machine, which is available for eight years. And let Ibiza there is no chance to get into Russia, we will discuss it in detail to keep readers informed autoND European trends.

P rovedennogo in 2012, the facelift was not enough: last summer did additional update of Ibiza, in the framework of which has been significantly revised range of engines.

The base engine is now a compact three-cylinder engine capacity of 75 liter EA211. from. For an additional fee is offered to buyers turbo version EcoTSI 110 forces.

At our test – Ibiza is supercharged with the “heart”, working together with a seven-speed robotic gearbox DSG DQ200 dual “dry” clutch, sagas about the problems with which the so full of forums and a community of modern VW Group product owners.

If you are not a fan for SEAT, the car is distinguished after a second conditional restyling of its predecessor will not be easy, because the appearance changes here purely cosmetic. There were strips of LED daytime running lights in the front optics (and then – only in the rich pickings), slightly changed radiator grille and front bumper, as well as added new wheel designs, available as an option.

Overall length of the five-door hatchback is 4061 mm, and the size of the wheelbase – 2469 mm. Ground clearance – 150 mm.

Test copy of the original and still sports a design package Velvet: exterior mirrors, the radiator frame and partially falshreshetki 16-inch wheels (called, once again, of Velvet) are painted in a contrasting color purple (there is a choice, and others). Well, this coloring nice refreshing look outdated model order, making it more emotional and memorable.

Violet “mood” and continues inside the car. Torpedo Ibiza, which is always blamed for a primitive and “blank” design is now decorated with colorful rims ducts. Colored insert appeared on the steering wheel. Well, completes the picture – a purple-gray seat upholstery and door cards. Well, it looks quite “South and in Spanish” to dissociate themselves from the related “Czech” with “the Germans.”

In the center of the dash is a 6.5-inch color touch screen multimedia system. Factory navigation to this “head” is not provided, but the Full Link technology allows the display of the smartphone interface directly on the central display of the machine. Applications Apple CarPlay and Android Auto give full access to virtually all the functions of your mobile device through the screen or voice assistant Siri or Google Voice: Internet, calls, messages, maps, entertainment applications. Disc slot and the memory card is located in the glove compartment – under the plastic cover.

Landing at the wheel – a low and deep, and the bottom trimmed steering wheel, in theory, should be tuned to sports. Visibility is not bad, but for jewelry maneuvering useful as a rearview camera.

Behind expected little space. More than two adults do not fit exactly, and so will work closely in the knees. Their comfort elements … there is only the dynamics of the audio system at the door: no ceiling handles, no pockets.

The trunk, by the standards of the class, a roomy 292 liters with the rear seatbacks raised. In the eyes immediately catch the massive rear wheel arches, which eat up part of the storage space, and the threshold could be made lower.

If you throw separate rear seat cushion and fold them back, we get a pretty decent compartment at 938 liters, however, with a step.

At the heart of SEAT Ibiza is “vsefolksvagenovskaya” A05 truck (aka – PQ25), which unites “Spaniard” to the Audi A1, the new Skoda Fabia hatchback and VW Polo. Like most compact urban hatchbacks, the suspension is collected by the classical scheme: MacPherson strut front and semi-dependent beam rear axle. Nothing tricky, but here the design brought to absolute.

On the smooth asphalt easy (curb weight – 1140 kg) Ibiza is managed very well, but with the front-drive “failure” in part to help fight familiar to many “folksovym” simulation model transverse differential lock XDS. Electronics makes the wheels lose grip, if you overdo it with the gas on the arc.

The pleasure of gambling away by Ibiza is directly dependent on the quality of the roadway. On the broken sections of the route the car does not feel very confident, “painful” response to large pits and potholes. All this nervousness results in mediocre smoothness. Much of this “merit” and still beautiful option drives on 16-inch low-profile tires 215/45 c. The basic model with 14-inch steel stamping in real life looks preferable.

But turbolitr 110 liters. from. and 220 Nm pleased. All Newton meters is already available in the mid-range slightly over 2000 revolutions per minute, but then be sure to “screw the” him to 4 000-5 000, which wakes up sound. Yes, this is not the roar of a lion, but rather vereschanie cat. But perhaps the very evil cat. 9.3 seconds to 100 km / h – not a record, but let’s not forget about the working volume.

Box pleases fast and precise work in dynamics, but at low speeds, in terms of traffic jams and “toffees” manifested a marked “dergotnya”, which is so annoying is not the first generation of car buyers to “dry” the DSG. In general, the best in Ibiza to drive fast!

Cool rider traffic light may fuel consumption readings in the onboard computer: if the “piling on”, the real figure is very much run up to the factory settings. So, in the city I could not get less than 7.0 l / 100 km, while the claimed 5.3 liters. With adequate driving on country road, in principle, can be entered in the “five”, but the passport of 3.9 l / 100 km seem unattainable.

You need a SEAT Ibiza, if:

  • VW Polo seems too regular and boring, and the Alfa Romeo Mito – lomuchey “Italian”;
  • Do you think that the 1.0-liter can be not only a carton of milk or juice;
  • Do you like mature “ladies” seasoned experience.

You do not need a SEAT Ibiza, if:

  • Do you live in the province and has recently put in new seals;
  • You do not want to call your townsfolk prestigious Spanish Volkswagen Fiat (similar sounds) or the Suzuki (similar emblem);
  • The phrase “dry DSG» instantly drives you into a cold sweat.
