“Enough business nightmare.” Test drive Citroen Jumpy and Peugeot Expert

Oh how often a dilemma arises – either a lot, but expensive, or cheap, but not enough. Especially when the money is barely enough to not go bankrupt. In the world of light commercial vans, this problem is designed to solve the twin “French” Citroen Jumpy and Peugeot Expert.

Every week they come to me with a check from some government agency, they constantly “scare” greedy officials, and then the city authorities finish off – they drive trucks out of the city, coming up with new restrictions … How many problems!

So much space for cargo is not necessary for everyone. And I’m not talking about more comfortable and sky-high for the price of the Volkswagen Transporter and Mercedes-Benz Vito.

That’s where the concern PSA “shot” just on target with its Citroen Jumpy and Peugeot Expert. The sizes are average, that is necessary. Prices – too, from 1 299 900 rubles.

Jumpy and Expert instantly take over your business brain while reading the technical specifications in the configurator. These two are cool designers for merchants. Because the length options are several: 4.6 meters (L1), 4.95 meters (L2) and 5.3 meters (L3). But the giant advantage, unique to the segment, is mainly in the column “gross weight”. Here the value of 2495 kg flaunts, which, naturally, is not an accident. In Moscow, as is known to all local business owners, there is a cargo carcass that severely restricts the movement of cars with a gross mass of over 2.5 tons. To whom these our capital affairs are uninteresting, versions under 3.1 tons are available.

Configure the van can be almost anything – a short, but a lifting L1? Easily. Or maybe a long L3 is better, but easier? Also an option.

And in terms of useful volume, even the smallest one keeps at the standard level of medium-capacity vans. The main thing is that the shape of the seats is convenient for the long road, there is cruise control, air conditioning and parking sensors. If anything, you can put a rear-view camera.

From town to village

Agree, no one cares how the vans go. If in passenger versions (and they come to us later) you can think about driving comfort, then in truckloads it does not matter at all. All that can excite the owner on the go is expense. And thanks to modern diesel engines, it surprises. Which time I am convinced that the current motors on diesel from the PSA concern turned out to be especially cool.

Actually, there will not be gasoline. There are two engines: a 1.6-liter for 90-horsepower and a two-liter for 150 “horses.” On the test there were only more powerful models, which nicely provide traction, sufficient for maneuvering even on the high-speed track. And I, believe me, was where to check for a thousand kilometers from Vilnius to Moscow. And both test cars – with a quick six-speed automatic. Carrying easily overtaking overtaking, at times I did not notice how gambling I got to the figure of 130 km / h on the speedometer.

If you limit yourself to “weaving” – and the driver of your firm, clearly not willing to run into fines, and will do – the expense of diesel fuel is kept around six liters. True, we were without cargo, not counting two dense auto journalists.

I will also note that the vans have a system of Grip Control, which changes the algorithm of the stabilization system depending on the coverage. In the end, in the countryside, too, there are businessmen, no matter how “nightmarish” they are from above. You, gentlemen farmers, will be interested to know that on the Russian Jumpy and Expert the French have increased ground clearance, strengthened the suspension and installed crankcase protection.

Although for the hinterland, at least for the center of Moscow – the PSA has a very well-balanced car. Yes, and for an interesting price, which is very important in the era of financial nightmares.
