According to the latest information from the British press, the new Mercedes-AMG GT R sports car will boast a 578-horsepower engine.
Now the Mercedes-AMG GT in the standard configuration offers 462 hp. (340 kW), while the advanced S has 510 hp. (375 kW). The new version of R is expected to get the same 4.0-liter V8, but the engine’s power will be increased to about 578 hp. (425 kW). In addition, somewhere around 60 kg weight reduction is expected, which, combined with the power increase, will improve the high-speed characteristics of the car.
The public debut of the GT R will take place next month as part of the Festival of Speed in Goodwood. The show starts on June 23rd. Most likely, the German company will present the novelty via the Internet a few days before this event.
