Volkswagen has started testing a more powerful version of the hatchback Golf GTI Clubsport, which will receive the ending “S”.
The most powerful front-wheel drive Golf GTI Clubsport offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 265 horsepower. With the function “overbust” power for a short time can be increased to 290 hp. The “S” model will have approximately the same power on a permanent basis. The maximum torque is 350 Nm. Interestingly, this version is slightly below the flagship Golf R, which offers 300 hp. And 380 Nm.
Two prototypes of the novelty were seen at the Nurburgring. Visually Golf GTI Clubsport S is no different from the usual version. But the official presentation of the body can be completed. Note that this version will be faster not only due to the increase in power, but also the reduction in mass.
