BMW President M Frank van Mil confirmed that the manual gearbox will no longer be offered in future BMW M5 and M6 models.
As Mil said to you, the demand for the BMW M6 model with a 6-speed manual transmission practically fell to zero. The brother M5 with the “mechanics” is also sold not very willingly.
At the same time, the head of BMW M calmed the fans of the company, who are adherents of the mechanical gearbox. It will also be offered on the M2, M3 and M4 models.
Note that many buyers choose versions with automatic transmission with double clutch for a number of reasons, including faster acceleration of the car than on the version with “mechanics”.
The next generation of BMW M5 is likely to be presented next year. The model is expected to get the upgraded 4.4-liter V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine, which produces up to 626 horsepower.
