According to a top manager, the emergence of the new Volvo XC40 in 2018 will be a landmark event for the brand. Recall, XC40 – compact crossover models from the family of the 40th series, which will also include the wagon and hatchback.
Mertens also said that the interests of the buyer shifted to SUV car segment. Particularly well this tendency in Sweden, the USA and China.
It is not surprising that Volvo has decided to bet on SUVs and crossovers: last year the company sold 503,127 vehicles worldwide, of which a little less than 267 000 cars had to release Cross and the XC series, which is more than 50% of the total volume.
This year, the company once again demonstrates the good results: sales are growing the 16th consecutive month, and from January to September were sold 9.6% more than in the same period last year. The Volvo said that the main driver, if we consider the situation on a global scale – the new XC90. The most salable model still remains a mid-size crossover XC60.
The latest addition to the Volvo Cross segment became wagon V90 Cross Country, which will appear exactly in Russia. The usual version with reduced clearance and should not wait without plastic armor.
