Despite the fact that sales of new cars in Russia rose for the first time since the crisis began, in March the country dropped in the rating of the largest markets in Europe. This is reported by “Autostat” referring to the data of national associations of car manufacturers in Europe.
The leader on the basis of sales in the first spring month was the UK, where 562 337 cars were sold – an increase of 8.4% compared to the result of March 2016. This indicator was a record for the country and twice exceeded the total volume of cars sold in the first two months of 2017. At the same time in the British society, automakers and auto dealers forecast a decrease in demand for new cars in April due to the introduction of new excises on vehicles.
Germany gained a foothold on the second line: local dealers sold 359,683 cars in March, which corresponds to an increase of 11.4%. Troika is closed by Italy: the car market grew by 18.2% to 226,163 sold cars, which was the best March result for the country in seven years.
Russia, which took fourth place in February, passed France ahead: 226 145 cars were sold there, and growth was + 7%. The Russian car market, in turn, sales of cars without light commercial vehicles amounted to 127 thousand units.
