The family lived poorly and even not entirely new Lincoln was by its standards a real treasure. Nevertheless, it was Elvis Presley’s first personal vehicle, on which he traveled until 1955.

Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60

In early 1955, Elvis Presley purchased the Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 in 1954 for its Blue Moon Boys. The car was pink in color. But do not confuse this car with the Cadillac, which later became legendary. The fact is that the first Fleetwood Series 60 was burned in the summer of the same year during the fire, which occurred due to a fire in the braking system.

But the famous was a completely different Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60, which Elvis acquired only a month after losing the first. And this car was originally not pink, but blue with a black top. But after the song Baby, Let’s Play House, in which the pink car is mentioned, became popular, Elvis decides to repaint her Cadillac, and gives the car to a familiar service that was nearby. A new delicate pink paint has its own name – Elvis Rose. True, the roof of the car remained black at the same time. The final change occurred after guitarist Scott Moore got into an accident in March 1956 – the Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 received a new roof color – white, as well as a different upholstery trim. Now this car is exhibited in the museum-estate of Elvis Presley – Graceland.

Cadillac Series 75 Fleetwood Limousine

As we said above, not only Elvis himself went to the pink Cadillac, but also his band. But, after the car was donated to his mother, Presley purchased for his group another Cadillac – Series 75 Fleetwood Limousine. This machine was also repainted. Initially, the car was blue, but the singer repainted it in black – so solid! On this “Cadillac” Elvis and his group toured the south of the US, and according to legend their musicians were transported directly on the roof. The Cadillac Series 75 Fleetwood Limousine was powered by a 5.4-liter V8 engine with 270 hp. By the way, the car survived to our days and was sold in 2011 at the auction Bonhams for 172 000 dollars.

Lincoln Continental Mark II

Contrary to the stereotypes, in the garage of Elvis Presley were not only “Cadillacs.” Another American brand, which was very fond of the singer – Lincoln. Whatever one may say, the artist’s memory of his first car affected. Therefore, in August 1956, Elvis Presley purchased the Lincoln Continental Mark II white with a beige leather interior. The car was made by special order, and received a leather roof instead of a standard fabric top. In the movement Lincoln Continental Mark II led a 6.0-liter engine with a power of 285 hp, working in tandem with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Lincoln Continental Mark II was the second car that Elvis coast to the last. This coupe he sold only in 1976, shortly before his death, and now the car is on display at the Graceland estate.

Messerschmitt KR200 and BMW Isetta

Remember, we talked about unusual little German cars? (LINK But a couple of such cars was also from Elvis Presley. One of them is Messerschmitt 200 or Kabinenroller. It is for sure not known whether the singer bought this car himself, or received it as a gift, but to this day there are many photos where Presley poses against the background of such an unusual car for the US.

But another small car – BMW Isetta – Elvis Presley bought in 1957. He allegedly bought a red car as a gift to his manager Tom Parker, also known as “Colonel Parker.”

Lincoln Continental Mark III

In 1958, shortly before enlisting in the army, Elvis Presley bought himself another Lincoln – the bright red Convertible Continental Mark III. Under the hood of this car was installed a 7.0-liter V8 engine, which developed 375 hp. The engine was paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and accelerated the car to 100 km / h in about 9 seconds.

True, Elvis did not have time to really enjoy this car. The fact is that in the fall of 1958 an American, who was by the time the idol of millions, was being drafted into the army. Presley travels to West Berlin, and with his Continental Mark III is photographed only during rare visits home.

Volkswagen Käfer

On what machine is the “King of Rock and Roll” transplanted after arriving in the military unit located in Germany? Actually, the army “Jeep”. But this is on duty. And as soon as Elvis was allowed to live outside the military unit, he immediately bought himself the most German car – Volkswagen Beetle or Käfer. True, this machine is not known much, except that it was red – just like Continental Mark III. In addition, in December 1958, Elvis bought himself another German car.

BMW 507

In 1955, BMW introduced a stylish roadster, which became the answer to the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. At that time, the Bavarians did not know, and they could not have known that in just three years the same car would be purchased by an ordinary American army, Elvis Presley. To buy a car there was a lot of attention, and even a picture was saved, on which the singer sits down in the car he just bought.

By the way, the BMW 507 was really good. The car was equipped with 3.2-liter aluminum V8 with 150 hp, which accelerated the car from a place to 100 km / h in 8.8 seconds. A total of 252 such cars were produced, one of which was purchased by Presley.

By the way, Elvis later repainted his car in red. Allegedly, he was tired of the fact that the car body was constantly covered with love messages left by his fans. Whatever it was, but after the end of the service in 1960, the “King of Rock and Roll” brought the BMW 507 to the US, where he exploited it for a while. Then the car was sold to the dealer, and over the next few years changed the owner several times. Only in 2014, the car was in the hands of professional restorers, who for two years carefully and scrupulously returned the BMW original appearance.
