In preparation for production of the new model at a plant in Dingolfing carried out large-scale modernization in recent months, involving an investment of several hundred million euros. The company launched a new body shop and assembly line restructured installation engines.
Besides the Bavarian enterprise, assembling the BMW 5 Series will be launched the next generation in the Magna Steyr plant in Austria. This is not the first collaboration of companies – from 2003 to 2010, the Austrians released crossover X3, and now the production line go model MINI Countryman and Paceman, produced for the BMW Group.
The date of the premiere of the new generation 5 Series sedan in the company is not known. There are rumors about a possible model debut in November at the Los Angeles auto show, or at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2017.
It is expected that the new "five" is based on the CLAR platform with the use of aluminum and carbon fiber, which will reduce the car's weight 80-100 kg. Power range will likely be composed of gasoline and diesel "turboshesterok" and V8 4.4 liter engine. There may be two hybrid versions.
Production of the new BMW 5 Series will begin at the plant in Dingolfing in late 2016 and in early 2017 at the Magna Steyr factory in Graz.
