Indeed, such an impression in everyone who saw the movie “The Italian Job” and “The Bourne Identity.” But moving away from films, we can confidently say that motorsport Mini made a lot of noise. Cars of this brand challenged everything else in the world rally championship, and in our years repeatedly became winners of the most complex “Dakar”. But how could someone believe in the very beginning of the history of the car that was released as a budget avtomobilchika, Mini will be able to show such results in professional racing?


If you head deeper into the history of the Mini brand, it is possible to know that the beginning of its existence served … Suez Crisis, which took place in the years 1956-1957. Anyway, British Motor Corporation employee (formed by the merger of Austin Motor Company and Morris) designer Alec Issigonis was asked to design a new car, a small, economical and roomy. Drawn literally “Minicoy” napkin was destined to soon become a real and thereafter – the whole avtolegendoy! But the initial task of realization of the sketch has been very difficult.

In such a compact body dimensions was planned to accommodate four people, and even necessary baggage – room for motor simply does not remain. Fortunately, talented engineers were able to cope with the problem and put the engine transversely, making the drive to the front axle. 848-cc power unit was able to overclock this baby up to 115 kilometers per hour, which at that time allowed to consider a fast car and a fully independent suspension makes it very maneuverable.

Since then, the Mini Cooper has repeatedly occupied the first places in various competitions and compete with larger rivals.
