According to the latest information, the German company intends to abandon the V8 engines, as well as increase the number of electric and hybrid models.
According to the publication Autocar, by 2025 Audi plans to have in its portfolio of 25 to 35 models with electric power systems. At the same time, the source reports that the German company is difficult to justify the development of a completely new V8, so it is likely to be abandoned in the foreseeable future.
Recall that the last V8 engine was introduced very recently. We have already seen it under the hood of the diesel SQ7, where in particular there is a turboturbated 4.0-liter V8 that produces 435 horsepower and 663 lb-ft of torque. This motor we will also see in the new generation Porsche Panamera. In the future, the appearance of a petrol V8 is expected, but still the output of the next generation of the engine looks unlikely.
