Toyota Supra can only be offered with an automatic transmission

Some Toyota fans who are looking forward to the new Supra, in the long run, may be disappointed. According to the latest information, the sports model will be offered exclusively with an automatic transmission.

Referring to insider sources, the Autocar publication reports that the hybrid powerplant will receive automatic transmissions into the companions. This can upset those who prefer the “mechanics” in sports cars. On the other hand, the manual gearbox is increasingly used on new models, especially in the North American market.

Let’s remind, that Supra is developed together with company BMW. The latter will offer a related model of the BMW Z4, with which the Japanese novelties will have much in common. According to rumors, Supra will receive a gasoline engine from the Bavarian company, as well as a pair of electric motors. Alas, there are not many details yet, but we expect that some data will be revealed in the coming months. As expected, the debut of the new Supra will take place next year.
